Saturday 3rd March 2018: 2.13am. Was fairly amazed to recently see "Ash vs the Evil Dead" begin its third season, a show I've raved about here before. Sure, both seasons were amazing, but I really didn't think that (a) it would get renewed and (b) they could maintain the amazingness and (c) well they kinda vanquished evil last season, obviously demonstrating that the script writers also thought there was zero chance of a renewal. So I had assumed it was done.
Watched first episode of third season, and yes, they can maintain the amazingness. Yes the plot is totally contrived, and just lurches from lurid set piece to set piece, and let's throw in a daughter in there because of course you'd do that. Yes the evil is back, because some fool read from the Necronomicon Ex Mortis. Even Lucy Lawless is back as Ruby, despite several versions of her dying several times now in preceding series. No I don't care that none of it makes any rational sense. Last season they had a demon possessed car for god's sake. It was brilliant, so OTT it went so far beyond believable that it becomes amazing. The car was actually hopping up and down on pistons, glowing red neon underneath, whilst expelling steam from its front like a bull. It chased Ash around a bull ring whilst murdering various annoying teenagers in amusing ways. What actually more do you want from a TV show?
I mean seriously, if you don't want to watch that, then there is something wrong with you. Rock on Ash vs the Evil Dead, it's amazingly as amazing as the Evil Dead movies! You should definitely watch it if you haven't already. So much better than 95% of the crap on TV nowadays, yet I suspect most people just won't get it. Their loss.
