Thursday 26th October 2017: 5.59pm. Looks like I'll be having to do a 12 month onsite stint in Dublin as there is zero remote work going in C++ all this year, and with Brexit and Trump the lack of remote work in C++ may persist for a long time. I had to take a 20% discount in day rate as well, there are almost zero contracts in C++ anywhere in Ireland this year, so rates are well depressed. The competition for the contract I got awarded was fierce, just for my agency alone there were five shortlisted candidates, and there were at least three agencies tending. It's a very tough market out there right now for C++ contracting. Thank you politicians, you are literally damaging my children and my family due to your collective stunning incompetence and ideological zealotry. If I could fire the lot of you into the sun I would :(
