To anyone technical: Stackoverflow have very kindly given me a few invites to their Careers 2.0 service which is an "IT resume aggregator". Basically you give it access to your LinkedIn, GitHub, Sourceforge etc. accounts and it aggregates a resume for you, and rather more importantly keeps it up to date for you too. You can see mine at http://careers.stackoverflow.com/nialldouglas/ for reference. It turns out - surprise, surprise - that programmers with many years of open source and Stackoverflow contributions are many times better than those without. In the US, Careers 2.0 is very rapidly becoming the hiring tool for coding talent, and it's pretty hard to fake several years of community contributions so employers don't get fake resumes.
